Term Two Online DPA Logs
Grade 12s... if you are logging your DPA minutes online, and you logged more than 150 minutes per week for Term One (on average), then your Term One log has been approved, and closed. You now need to begin a Term Two log online. Each term, as long as you meet the DPA requirements, your log will be approved and closed, and you will need to begin a new log. Please email me or come see me if you need any assistance with your new log.

Term Two Requirements
Congratulations to those of you who submitted all Term One work on time. You are well on your way to completing your Graduation Transitions Program! Term One required you to maintain a Daily Physical Activity log (paper or online), unless you are enrolled in and passing a Senior PE course (not Leadership) or Dance course. Many of you have kept your DPA logging up to date. Thank you! Your Healthy Living Plan was also due at the end of November. Thanks to those of you who completed this on time. Those of you who have not yet completed this assignment, you still need to do so. Check the Career Centre for a copy of the booklet, or download one from the CHSS website.
For Term Two, if you are logging DPA minutes online, you will notice that your log no longer exists. That is because I have approved your minutes for the first report card. All you need to do is begin a second term log, and maintain it until February. If you are logging your DPA minutes on a paper calendar, please submit your November calendar now, and pick up or download a copy of the December calendar.
Finally, your Transition Plan is due by the end of second term, on or before February 26th, 2014. This document is either an update of your Planning 10 Career Research Project, or a completion of the Transition Plan booklet, which you can pick up from the Career Center or download from the website. In addition to the booklet, you need to include an updated resume.
Some of you have not yet completed your 30 Hours of Work Experience. If you need help setting up a work experience opportunity, please come see me or Ms. Jackson in the Career Centre soon. Remember that if you have a part-time job, you can use your job experience to fulfil this requirement. You just need to fill out (and have your employer fill out) the verification booklet which can be picked up in the Career Centre.
If you have any questions, please email me or come visit me in the Career Centre during my office hours, stated in the top right corner of this page.

Term 1 requirements
Hello Grade 12s! As we move to the middle of Term One, I would like to remind you of the aspects of your portfolio to complete before we reach the end. You should attempt to have your Healthy Living Plan (either your updated PE 10 project, or the Healthy Living Plan booklet which you can pick up from the Career Centre) completed before November 27, 2013.
Also, you need to be recording your Daily Physical Activity (DPA) if you are not currently registered in Weight Training, Keep Fit, PE 12 or Dance 12. You can either maintain a log online (register an account at www.learnnowbc.ca) or pick up a paper calendar from the Career Centre. You only need to do one or the other: paper log, or online log. You do not need to do either of those if you are in PE or Dance. Do not wait until the end of term to begin logging your minutes!
Please see me in the Career Centre on Thursday or Friday at lunch if you have any questions or need support with any of these aspects of your portfolio.

Active Health 10 Project Updates
Some of you are very, very close to completing the "Personal Health Plan" portion of your Graduation Transitions Portfolio. I have copies of many Active Health 10 projects in my office. These are the projects you completed as part of your PE 10 class two years ago. All you need to do is pick up your project from me, complete a cover sheet detailing how your health plans have (or have not) changed over the past two years, and then re-submit the package to me. Once I have received the project, with updated cover page, this aspect of your portfolio may be checked off!

Active Health 10 and Career Research 10 Projects
If you are a current grade 12 student, you probably completed an Active Health 10 project when you were in P.E. 10, as well as a Career Research Project when you were in Planning 10. Those projects can actually be used to fulfil part of your Graduation Transitions Portfolio requirements. So... dig those out, and bring them in to Ms. Barsky in the Career Centre. I will file these in your folder for you, until the end of this school year.

September 2013 Daily Physical Activity (DPA) Tracking
All grade 11 and 12 students should already be tracking September Daily Physical Activity (DPA) minutes. If you are still in summer mode, and have not yet begun logging your time, it's not too late! There are two options for you to log your DPA:
1. Online: go to http://www.learnnowbc.ca and set up an account (if you are a new user) or continue to log
your minutes using the online program. Ms. Barsky has online access to your account, so if you
maintain your log, she will know you have completed your DPA requirements.
2. Manually: pick up a September 2013 paper calendar from the Career Centre or download a copy (link is
at the side) and keep it in your binder or on your wall at home. Write down your DPA minutes
all month long and then submit the completed month's calendar to Ms. Barsky in the Career
Centre.
Either method of DPA tracking is acceptable, as long as you are completing your activity and recording it! If you are currently enrolled in, and passing, a Senior PE class or Senior Dance class, you do not need to record your DPA. Your teacher will submit your mark to Ms. Barsky and your DPA requirement will be fulfilled that way. Please see Ms. Barsky in the Career Centre if you have any questions regarding your DPA.
